Glyceryl Caprylate is a 100% plant-derived multifunctional cosmetic ingredient. With a high content of glyceryl monoester (≥88%), its short-chain structure can penetrate the skin and interact with water molecules, helping to retain moisture and enhance skin hydration.
Its amphiphilic properties reduce surface tension, contributing to smaller droplet sizes in oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions and thereby improving emulsion stability. It is mainly used in cosmetics as a co-emulsifier, emollient, and moisturizing agent, enhancing the sensory performance of finished products.
In addition, Glyceryl Caprylate is a novel, highly effective broad-spectrum preservative. It exhibits inhibitory activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, molds, and yeasts. Compared with traditional preservatives, Glyceryl Caprylate is milder and less irritating to the skin, aligning with modern consumer demand for gentle and skin-friendly cosmetic formulations.
In color cosmetics and powder formulations, Glyceryl Caprylate coats individual powder particles and functions as a binder and wetting agent, resulting in a more uniform appearance. This ingredient is suitable for a wide range of formulation systems, including oil-in-water (O/W) and water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions, anhydrous formulations (such as solid or color cosmetic products), and surfactant-based systems.
